Linkar is tested with a large variety of combinations of Pick / MultiValue database, OS for the Linkar SERVER, and Connection Type. Some combinations are not possible, for example there is no mvBASE over Linux, no UniObjects for jBASE, and MVSP is not supported as a client from macOS. With each new release of Linkar we strive to support the latest underpinnings for this product. While we try to support previous releases, and some are noted below, there is always a chance that older underpinnings include flaws that have since been corrected, and we prefer to support "the latest and greatest" DBMS releases and connectivity underpinnings.
The pattern for the Recommended Connection Type from Linkar SERVER to a database is as follows:
•Use the fastest and most stable socket-based connectivity offered the DBMS provider.
•Use TERMINAL (Telnet/SSH) connections, with a "scripted" login for users, accounts, and passwords.
•Use a SOCKET type created by Kosday specifically created to overcome known obstacles with the other types.
Recommendations are reviewed and may change over time.
We welcome inquiries about updates, new MV platforms, alternative Connection Types, and as-yet untested connection combinations.
